True Love—Always and Forever
For some, Valentine’s Day will be filled with genuine expressions of love and devotion. Others will receive grand gestures generated by guilt and neglect that will fail to fill the longing of the heart. But for many this day will highlight unfulfilled dreams, unmet expectations, and remind them they are lonely and longing for more.
No matter what you do or do not receive, no matter how thrilling or disappointing, I want to challenge you to be the generous giver that remembers someone today in a special and caring way. Make a phone call to say, “I’m thinking of you.” Send a text and say, “You are special to me.” Stop in for a visit and look someone in the eye and say, “I’ve missed you.”
God’s love is best expressed when we serve others in everyday ways.
I pray someone reading this will hear the gentle whisper of the Holy Spirit reminding you of the most sincere and genuine words of devotion ever spoken. God’s heart is fully and completely committed to you. With Him you are never overlooked or unimportant.
“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.” John 4:9-12 (NIV)
“God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV)
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:12-13 (NIV)
Will you “BE MINE” always and forever?
I love you,
Jesus
