To the parents of grown children
There is nothing like seeing your child grow into the person you prayed for them to be. It’s a beautiful thing when you have prayed and asked the Lord to grow them in wisdom and then you see them come into spiritual maturity and they are filled with the Spirit and words of truth.
When this happens, I want to encourage you to be attentive to their words.
It’s easy to brush them aside because for years you’ve been the one teaching them. But believe me when I say that their words will be used to train, teach, and correct you with Godly wisdom.
Mom, maybe you should just stop following her. She makes you skeptical and critical.
My children have more than once shown me and my husband that they have wise words of teaching and correction to share with us.
This is a wonderful thing.
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)
Rejoice in this. This is what you prayed for and asked the Lord to do. You’re reaping what was sown—the seed of God’s word. What was sown in tears many times is now being reaped with joy.
