Resurrection Life

News travels fast, especially bad news. The religious people thought they had finally managed to get rid of the troublemaking rabbi who kept questioning their authority and comparing the miraculous evidence of His words to their meaningless rules and regulations. Still, within the inner circle of a corrupt and unjust trial, there was enough doubt on the part of those who had heard some of His claims to take extra precautions.

May I just say to the person who has been unjustly accused or found themselves deserted by your friends, you are not misunderstood by Jesus.

If you have suffered public humiliation or been lied about, you have compassion and empathy from Jesus.

Although it may appear you’re being silenced and buried under corruption and cruelty, you have an advocate who has suffered in many emotional ways like you. He also suffered for you to defeat the power that attempts to kill your hope and dreams, steal your reputation and your dignity, and destroy your testimony, marriage, family, relationships, finances, and anything you hold dear.

Niggling in the back of their minds are statements made by Jesus before he was betrayed. Things that didn’t seem possible but unexplainable things have happened before. Statements like, “After I have been raised, meet me in Galilee.” So while the guards seal the tomb so no one can stage a disappearance, the disciples hide in dark disbelief.

But on the third day, word came through credible witnesses with a message straight from the tomb.

A very clear personal message for Peter, from the one he denied, the one who died: “tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.” Mark 16:7 (NKJV)

Jesus told them, in the presence of Mary and Martha, at the death of  Lazarus, “I AM THE RESURRECTION and THE LIFE.” (John 11:25)

Now they are being summoned to see TRUTH alive, death defeated, and ETERNAL LIFE secured!

“So they (the disciples and Peter) went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for they trembled and were amazed. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.” Mark 16:8 (NKJV)

Will you join me in asking God to build your faith while you wait? When things seem to be going all wrong, sit in His word and remember the things He has told you in the past. Hold onto the promises and ponder all the disconnected pieces in the light of His presence.

Deliberately surrender your own understanding, and He will guide the next steps. If His steps take you to a tomb and you feel abandoned, hold fast to the truth and wait, with expectation, not for what you want but for what He alone will do. He will meet you on the other side, and your weeping will turn to joy.

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?’ ‘Yes, Lord,” she (Martha) replied, ‘I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” John 11:25-27 (NIV)
