Make memories with the Lord

“Remember the word to Your servant, Upon which You have caused me to hope. Psalm 119:49 (NKJV)

Reminding myself it is God’s word that never fails and cannot lie that has sustained me in my struggles and offered me hope.

“This is my comfort in my affliction, For Your word has given me life.” Psalm 119:50 (NKJV)

When I thought I could not keep going, the words of life breathed air into me!

“I remembered Your judgments of old, O Lord, And have comforted myself.” Psalm 119:52

Because God’s word never fails, I have been comforted. I call back and review His faithfulness which is constant. My history and the countless testimonies of others consoles me. It reminds me of Who He is.

In 1 Samuel 30:6 David encouraged himself in the Lord.

“Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was  grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.” 1 Samuel 30:6 (NKJV)

“I remember Your name in the night, O Lord, And I keep Your law.” Psalm 119:55

When it is dark, quiet, and I’m awake, it’s God’s name and His words that I remember, review, and revisit.

What is your favorite way to preserve memories?  Common ones are photo albums, journals, diaries, scrapbooks, baby books, and memory boxes. These become treasured records of milestones and important reminders of our past.

My challenge to you is this: make a record of your history with God.

  • Be intentional.

  • Keep an account.

  • Review it often.

  • Preserve your history with the God of your salvation to guide you through.

“You, O Lord, remain forever; Your throne from generation to generation,” Lamentations 5:19 (NKJV)
