Heart Position

Do you find yourself struggling to read the Word of God or to grow from it?

“Princes persecute me without a cause, But my heart stands in awe of Your word.” Psalm 119:161 (NIV)

Where is your heart positioned? Your reaction and response to God’s word depends on your position.

What have you determined or decided about the Word of God?

Do you think it’s boring, irrelevant, dead, too hard to understand, obsolete, another book, historical lessons, empty? Interesting, informative, instructional, inspired?

Do we believe that all scripture is given by divine inspiration? That it is God breathed and, therefore, alive? Do we believe it is enduring and limitless in its relevance? Do we believe it is living, active, and sharp?

If we want to grow, we have to examine where our heart is when it comes to Scripture.

“Jesus said to him, ‘If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.’ Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, ‘Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!’” Mark 9:23 (NKJV)

I encourage you to make this your prayer if you are struggling with what you truly believe about God’s word. Positioning your heart in a place of belief and awe of the inspired word of God is life changing.
