For the single woman

As the holidays approach, and we anticipate gathering with family and friends, I’m thinking about the single women in my life. I’m praying you will know how very special you are.

Some of my friends have not yet married, some are separated, some divorced, and others widowed. I respect and honor your courage and commitment to walk by faith and seek God’s wisdom and guidance. You carry the weight of responsibility with dignity and grace.

I admire the way you seek God’s will and long to know His presence in a deeply personal way. Your humility and vulnerability get heaven’s attention.

God sees you and loves you.

I know you know it in your heart, you say it with your mouth, but that does not make you immune to loneliness. I know that many of you are longing to share life with the right person. While you wait and pray, I want to encourage you with this reminder today.

Jesus is a gentleman.

He is gracious, respectful, kind, and good. He knows you even better than you know yourself and wants the Father’s best for you. He understands. You can trust Him with the desires of your heart. Lean in and listen to His words of counsel and wisdom. He is with you in the lonely times and nothing will separate you from His love.

You are precious, favored, created for purpose and influence as a bright and beautiful work of your Creator’s hand. You have gifts, talents, creativity, tenderness, and an inner beauty that time with Jesus will only enhance.

Do not settle for less than God’s best for you.

You are a priceless treasure. Guard your heart above all else, for from it flow the issues of life.

The only relationship that will fill you and complete you is your relationship with Jesus. Trust Him with your heart. Put your eyes on Him. Share your dreams and fears with Him. He will cover, care, console, and carry you through this season.

When others inevitably ask you about your relationships or dating status, especially during the holidays, I pray you will be filled with Christ’s confidence,

“Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.” Psalm 34:5 (NIV)
