Wisdom
Life is filled with countless choices and decisions, and it's natural to experience anxiety and fear about making the right ones. In moments of uncertainty, I like to turn to this passage.
“For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.” Proverbs 2:10-11 (NIV)
“For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.”
Your heart is the entranceway for true wisdom to be revealed. So how do you open the door?
I invite you to start with a prayer: Holy Spirit, the door to my heart is open to you. I invite you to come in.
Wait in His presence.
Stay as long as it takes to let the distractions and cares recede. His presence creates space in your heart for clarity and peace to settle into you. It's in this stillness that we can hear Him.
“Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.”
Wisdom brings with it the gift of discretion, which is the ability to exercise well-measured judgment in our words and actions. In embracing wisdom, we learn to sift through what is undesirable and hold on to what is good.
His Spirit prompts and guides us.
Learn to be sensitive to His voice. Discretion monitors your responses in words and actions. He will enable you to use Godly propriety and self control.
Understanding (from God’s point of view) shows us:
● When to speak and when to listen
● Who to align ourselves with in personal and professional life
● Where to be and not to be
● When to say ‘yes’ and ‘no’
● How to guard and protect the gifts He has given to us
We don’t need to be anxious or fearful about our ability to make safe and secure choices.
God's wisdom, discretion, and understanding are always available to us, giving us security in every part of our lives. He will see us through a new week, a new job, a new school year, a new project, or a new season in life. We can step into the unknown with His confidence and assurance.
