Mourning into dancing
Recently, I attended a funeral for a 48-year-old man whose sudden death has left a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. He was a strong believer, and his faith was evident in the way he lived his life. As I watched his mother, just a few years older than me, grieve yet stand strong, I couldn't help but think, "No parent should have to bury their child."
For a brief moment, I forgot my own suffering and heartache.
“You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.” Psalm 30:11-12 (NKJV)
This is a promise from God to us.
Even in times of profound loss and mourning, there is hope.
God’s grace is sufficient for us, and He is constantly at work, even in the midst of our pain. The funeral was a reminder of the hope we have in Christ, a hope that transcends our earthly struggles and offers us a glimpse of the eternal joy that awaits us.
