Intersections
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9 (NIV)
Instead of asking, "What can I gain from this?" we should ask, "Lord, what is Your purpose here?" This perspective shift moves us from self-centered ambitions to God-centered missions.
Consider how Jesus interacted with those He met.
Whether He was speaking with a Samaritan woman at the well or dining with tax collectors and sinners, Jesus always sought to reveal God's love and truth.
His interactions were purposeful and transformative.
In practical terms, embracing God’s leading in our encounters means being attentive to the Holy Spirit's prompting and choosing God's agenda over our own. It means being present, listening actively, responding with love and grace. It also means being willing to step out of our comfort zones and trusting God’s plan, even when it is not clear to us.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
My prayer for you, and myself, this week is that God would open our eyes to how He wishes to use us in our interactions with others, and that we would obediently and boldly carry out His kingdom work.
