Hard things
Sometimes God calls us to do hard things. It's not because He’s harsh; rather, it's during these challenging times that we experience His supernatural strength.
The Bible is rich with examples of individuals who faced daunting tasks and found strength in their faith: Moses, Esther, Joshua, Daniel, to name just a few. Consider the story of Esther, who was summoned to approach the king, an act that could result in death if she was not granted an audience. Mordecai utters a powerful phrase in response to Esther’s concerns:
"For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?" Esther 4:14 (NIV)
"For such a time as this." Sometimes we are placed in particular circumstances for a divine purpose.
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NIV)
In moments of weakness, we become vessels for Christ's power to shine through. The Book of James encourages us to find joy in trials, as they test our faith and develop perseverance.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” James 1:2-3
It is in these trials that our faith is refined and strengthened.
So here's a challenge: Don’t shrug off that hard thing God’s called you to do. Trust that, like Esther, you might be in your current position "for such a time as this."
